David is a Chartered Accountant (ACA), Licensed Insolvency Practitioner (IPA) and accredited mediator (CEDR) with a wealth of experience in the insolvency and restructuring sector.

David began his career at KPMG, where he trained and qualified as an accountant. He was a partner in the insolvency and restructuring division at Grant Thornton for 15 years, a position he held until December 2023. Before joining Grant Thornton, David was a partner at Chantrey Vellacott (now part of BDO) and the boutique insolvency firm, Fanshawe Lofts.

David’s expertise encompasses managing and trading businesses as a receiver, administrator, and liquidator. He has successfully negotiated the sale of numerous businesses, navigating the complexities of dealing with purchasers, stakeholders, creditors, valuers, and other agents. His deep understanding of going concern valuation principles and distressed M&A practices has made him a sought-after professional in his field.

Throughout his career, David has instigated and defended numerous court proceedings, leading teams of forensic and insolvency accountants, solicitors, barristers, expert witnesses, litigation funders, and ATE insurers. Known as “the receiver of choice,” David is recognised for his independence of mind and his ability to handle competing interests effectively. His accountancy training ensures a comprehensive understanding of financial statements and their implications.

David’s based in the South East and has always worked in London, embracing the city’s rich variety by regularly attending music concerts, comedy shows, and theatre. He is a proud father of three grown-up children and is blessed with four grandsons. David splits his time between Surrey, Essex, and wherever his work, wife, or grandchildren need him. Recently, he’s taken up yoga, adding a new dimension to his active lifestyle.
